As the title suggests, it’s true that 2018 has been a really Musical Year for us all. There were some songs that captured our mind. There were some songs that captured our heart. There were some songs that got captured in our mind. And there were some songs that got captured in our heart too.


Eargasm Presents to you a Recap of 2018 Music. Through an analyzed list of all songs that grab our attention so much that almost we were unable to forget them the whole year, couldn’t take our ears off to listen to them. And above all, made 2018 – A Musical Year.

Donating his entire budget of $996,631.90, and gave it away to families, schools, charities, and needy ones. Song reached 7x Platinum State and that’s truly insane.

Having a huge fan following base, especially after FADED, Alan Walker’s Darkside was upside down in few stances among masses. Wasn’t a huge success like last year’s “All Falls Down” but it worked out nevertheless.

After battling out her pretty serious issue of Lupus Disease, and overcoming her mental health issues, Gomez put out her work on the well acknowledged Netflix Original Show(Novel Adaptation) – “13 Reasons Why: Season 2”. Being an executive producer and recorded the very first song of series herself, along with a Music Video.

English Contemporary Christian Artist’s Song made its place in “Billboard Hot 100” at 34th rank, for the first time ever. Surpassing the record of another artist running over eight years by debuting swiftly at no. 22 in Christian Airplay Chart. Worth it.

After the success of ‘Fast and Furious Movie Franchise’ Original Soundtrack’s “See You Again”, Puth take a leap out from this song by ranking even more highly than before by being at no. 3.

In spite of having only one studio album, “Expectations”, which was Rexha’s debut solo album too; she has given some major hits to masses like Meant to be, I got you and highlight – She co-wrote the lyrics to Grammy won for “Best Rap Song of the Year” – “Monster” along with Eminem & Rihanna. Masses give her first debut album song’s (I’m a mess) quite good response too.

Ranked at 5th in Billboard Hot 100, the song dropped down to 11th in its second week, yet after a month of its release, the song ranked at 4th in UK Singles Chart.

A Modern Woman Empowering upbeat ‘bounce'(new hip hop) song with early 2000s R&B touch- “Nice For What”, gave Drake’s own “God’s Plan” a smash on the top charts list in two countries. Getting hit by ‘Childish Gambino’s’ “This Is America”, it dropped down but in the 5th non-consecutive week, it topped again unless again getting replaced by Drake’s own track – “In My Feelings”, and dropped down to 4th rank finally. It survived for continuous 17 weeks among top 10.

Not having any record among the top charts, Cardi B’s Money was the ultimate ‘swag icon’ for the Flex community and it received several critical praises for its lyrics, the moment it was released.

2104:5505:05   Tyga ft. Offset – Taste

First ever track of Tyga, along with the featuring of Offset, “Taste” brought both of them their first appearance after 3 years in Billboard Hot 100 by ranking at 8th position. The Freestyle song has a chill and groovy feel and the first four beats you hear in the song were originally ‘speed up’ by Tyga to give it a fresh touch. It was ranked as the 20th Best song of the Year by Billboard.

Having stuck with the suing of English Musician “Sting” for using the Opening Guitar Riff (tune) from his 90s track – “Shape of My Heart”, Lucid Dreams did pretty amazingly among the charts & Spotify Streamings. Sting was all cool until the breaking news gave his track (Shape of My Heart) a ranking in Billboards. 

1905:1605:26   Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin – I Like It

An awesome ‘latin trap song comprises of trap-salsa beat’. Being inspired by the American Artist ‘Tony Pabón track “I Like It Like That” samples, the song topped the Billboard charts and was considered the best track of the year by Apple Music Editorial. Marking a first topped one for Bad Bunny & J Balvin & Cardi’s second. And EARGASM considers the song as “BEST SUMMER TRACK OF ALL TIME”.

“This Is America” isn’t just a song, it’s a revolution brought by Donald Grover’s Alt Form of Rap Artist Avatar(known as Childish Gambino) and Japanese-American Filmmaker – Hiro Murai, who has frequently worked with Gambino in his music videos. The music video won International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage Award for Best Cinematography in a Music Video, Best Video with a Social Message, Choreography, Direction at MTV Music Video Awards, Best Hip Hop Video, Impact Track at BET Hip Hop Awards, Best Urban Video: International, Cinematography and Video of the Year at UK Music Video Awards, and other 15 nominations, a total of 29 in which 6 are pending. The music video alone accounted for 63% of total streaming of song. AND THAT’S HUGE IN ITS OWN WAY.

1705:3705:47   Ariana Grande – God Is A Woman

A hybrid of hip hop and pop with a touch of trap and reggae(modern popular music, originated in Jamaica in the late 60s). Grande’s “No Tears Left To Cry” and “God Is A Woman” were a constant battle for everyone opting out for the best. But sources implied, even though people were relating and loving the NTLTC, yet GIAW’s rich & quality music production makes it the best.

1605:4705:59   XXXTentacion – Sad

The tragic death of American Singer, Songwriter and majorly Rapper, XXXTentacion put everyone in an intense sadness. Before passing away, XXXTentacion recorded “Sad” and released it on March 2, on various streaming platforms including Spotify. The lo-fi hip hop synth track lyrically was filled with lots of depressed and suicidal context due to an over ill-fated romance. After the new policies towards hate content and hateful conduct came into the action of Spotify, the track was removed from their playlist on May 10. The streaming percentage dropped down to 17% over the whole US per day on an average. After the tragic death of the young artist, it was back in the list and recorded 10.4 million streams on Spotify at one particular day, on June 19, one day after his death, breaking the single-day streams overall streaming platforms. POSTHUMOUSLY,  he earned the no. 1 position in Billboard Hot 100.

An upbeat EDM song about self-love despite a heartbreak. Breakdown history of Streaming Platform, Shazam recorded the “Solo” as most searched song ever with 9.1 million tags worldwide. It reached number one in Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom and was certified gold in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, and New Zealand and certified platinum in Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Peaking at no. 7 on Billboard Hot 100, no. 1 on Billboard Mainstream Pop Songs Airplay Chart for 5 consecutive weeks, no. 1 on Adult Pop Songs Chart for 2 consecutive weeks, no. 2 on Radio Songs Airplay(All Genre) charts. In UN, peaked at no. 4 of Singles chart for 6 months. “Youngblood” has been certified multi-platinum in Australia and New Zealand, certified platinum in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, and certified gold in Italy, Belgium and Brazil.

#InMyFeelingsChallenge , #KikiChallenge, #DoTheShiggyChallenge – Name as however you want it to, the track drove a global craze and an internet viral tradition to do Ghost Riding. The moment of releasing, it debuted at no. 6 on Billboard Hot 100. After the following week of introduced ‘In My Feelings Challenge’, it topped the chart. Drake topped the chart beating himself at no. 1 for “Nice For What”. On July 28, it broke the streaming record for the most streams in a single week with 116.2 million streams and kept the top spot on the chart. Surviving for 10 consecutive weeks, it was hit by “Maroon 5’s Girls Like You”. In spite of everything, the success of “In My Feelings” made Drake the record holder for most number one hits among rappers in the history of the Hot 100 chart. Internet possesses great powers.

1206:3806:51   Kendrick Lamar & SZA – All The Stars (From Black Panther)

‘Marvel’s Black Panther’ Album’s Track – “All The Stars”, is a huge hit and critical accolade while naming several nominations(including 4 pending Grammy Nominations); one of the most recent – “Best Original Song” at the ’76th Golden Globes Awards’. It won “Best Song” at the ‘African-American Film Critics Association(AAFCA)’. Debuted at no. 43 in Billboard Hot 100, it rises to 31 after fifth weeks of the chart. In the first week of March, it peaked at no. 7. Debuting at no. 19 in “Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs” of Billboard, it rose up to peak at no. 5 in the fifth week. It survived to be in the top 20 for three weeks. Worldwide, the song peaked at number one in Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, and Slovakia. The song reached the top ten in Australia, Canada, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Billboard considered the track as 15th Best Song of the Year.

Having a resemblance to Malone’s 2015 Debut Buzz Song, “White Iverson” – “Psycho” – a slow trap beat song, peaked at no. 2 after the release on Billboard Hot 100, just behind the “Drake’s Gods Plan”. “Psycho” was an up down track almost the year which didn’t win any critical praises rather negative reviews. But Spotify recorded the track streaming going almost constant throughout the year among masses.

Debuting at no. 94 on Billboard Hot 100, it rises up to no. 4 after following the first full week of release of Music Video. This was the fourth biggest jump in Hot 100s History. After spending six weeks at no. 2 just behind “Drake’s In My Feelings”, it finally topped the chart and made Maroon 5, the Pop Duo or Band to have most Hot 100 from 2000 and 2010s. And it turned out to also make Cardi B the first female rapper to replace herself even on the top of the chart several times and with the most being at top of the chart weeks, for being done of 11 weeks run. It became the 9th song to spend 28 weeks in top 10.  “Girls Like You” became the first pop song to lead the chart after the record run of 34 consecutive weeks that rap songs had ruled the Hot 100, from January to September 2018. As of January 2019, “Girls Like You” Music Video has received more than 1.6 billion views, making it one of the top 40 most viewed videos on YouTube. It is also YouTube’s ninth most-liked video, with over 11 million as of January 10, 2019, and Vevo’s most viewed video of 2018.

The promotion for the single track involves 3 Music Videos to get a huge amount of audience in the success. One was the lyric, the second was a performance video featuring Marshmello and Bastille both, dancing and playing various instruments in different frames changing at time and the final and third one was the official video portraying a socially not accepted girl with braces, who loves her dog the most who got died after a while, played by the famous teen Actress ‘Miranda Cosgrove’. Debuting at no. 2 in UK Singles and no. 3 in Billboard Hot 100, the track ranked at no. 7 in the year-end charts of Hot Dance/EDM Songs.

It does the same this year also. The Independent stated – “Making it no surprise that Carey earns a hefty check each year just from royalties for the track. Precisely, a neat £376,000, as reported by The Daily Mail. In 2015, the hit also topped Spotify’s list of the most-streamed Christmas songs of the year.” According to Billboard, “Chart Data reported that “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” released in 1994, was played 10.8 million times Monday on Spotify. The song bested the record set by rapper-singer XXXTentacion, who logged 10.4 million streams with “SAD!” a day after his death in June. Every holiday season “All I Want for Christmas Is You” begins to climb the Billboard charts as its popularity resurfaces. This year the song reached a new peak when it hit No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Carey’s 1994 Merry Christmas album is spending its fourth week at No. 1 on R&B charts.”

Debuting at no. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Sicko Mode. It peaked at no. 2 after the release of its Music Video on October 19, being just behind “Maroon 5’s Girls Like You”, followed by “Ariana Grande’s Thank u, Next”. After spending 17 weeks in top 10, being aided by Skrillex upload of track’s remix(November 28); On the second week of December, it peaked at no. 1 making “Sicko Mode” ‘Travis Scott’s first ever to be topped in Billboard Hot 100’.

 The track story started the moment her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson joked about their broken engagement on Saturday Night Live. She tweeted about the song and the curiosity among audience kept on increasing due to Pete’s Joke and Grande’s response. The track broke a string of records, including the record for the most plays in a single day by a female artist on Spotify. Commercially, “Thank U, Next” has reached number one in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore and South Korea, the top ten in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland, and the top twenty in Belgium, France and Germany. The music video was released on November 30, 2018, which references the films Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde. Track refers positively to her past relationship with recently passed away Rapper-Singer Mac Miller. Billboard ranked “Thank u, next” as 4th Best Song of the Year.

0508:0508:16   Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes

The upbeat track peaked at no. 5 on Billboard Hot 100, making their ever top one. Peaked at no. 1 for the first time ever in US Radio Songs Airplay Chart. Worldwide, it made great progress by having a place in Top 10. Also, the track’s 4th one to be in the top of Adult Pop Songs, Pop Songs and Alternative Songs, since the thrice of them began.

0408:1608:29   Post Malone – Better Now

Nowhere to be found in the records but Malone’s “Better Now” was in the Top 20 of Billboard Hot 100 for straight 6 months and even at the end of the year records (29 December), it slipped down to 21 only. Spotify streams have the record to find “Better Now” Malone’s 2nd most streamed song after 2017 released track – “Rockstar”. And it just got at the no. 10 again right now. The R&B Breakup song earned ‘Halsey’ her first number one as lead artist on Billboard Hot 100, following as a featured artist previously in the ‘Chainsmokers’ Massive Hit – “Closer”. By the end of the year, it was at no. 2 behind Grande’s “Thank u, Next”. And following this week chart (10 January), it has TOPPED the chart ultimately. Spotify streams also couldn’t rest to her track till this date. Thanks to the Music Video released on October 12, since the third week it peaked at no. 12 and by the beginning of this year, it has topped.

A Super beautiful ballad song with synth tunes & high vocals from Pop Star Lady – ‘Lady Gaga’ along with Actor and filmmaker(now Singer too) – ‘Bradley Cooper’, “Shallow” is undoubtedly the year’s biggest hit; commercially and critically both on a global level. Debuting at no. 14 in Billboard Digital Chart after its release and no. 28 on Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at no. 5 on Hot 100 and topped the Digital Chart after the movie release on October 5. Airplay continued growing to 23.3 million (up 50%) audience impressions, resulting in the song debuting at number 50 on the Radio Songs chart. The Cute Soulful, Funky Ballad, Upbeat, Hyper Catchy, Feel-Good, Hip-Hop, Dreamy Pop track, is a total worth of topping the “BEST SONGS OF 2018”. Spring Aspers, head of music and creative affairs at Sony Pictures, said that “Post and Swae have delivered a song that’s both heroic and emotional, which is exactly what a Spider-Man story needs. It’s anthemic, but also heartfelt — the perfect soundtrack for Miles(Miles Morales from Spider-Man Extended Universe) to discover the Spider-Man inside himself”. In 7 countries, it topped the charts significantly, especially after winning the “Best Animated Feature Film” at the ’76th Golden Globes Awards’. Debuting at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100 after its release, it spent three weeks on the top five and will be reaching no. 1 following next week chart, according to sources.
